Your Opinion Of Yourself Is The Only One That Matters
I once heard someone say on a podcast, “I never let anyone gas me up because then I also give them the power to take it away.”
!!! WHEN I SAY, THAT WOKE ME TF UP !!!
As women, we’ve been told we’re “so pretty,” and “so smart,” by our family since we were little girls, so, of course, when those same family members criticize an outfit choice or express judgment, it stings like hell and can often dictate how we feel about ourselves. Same with friendships. If we let our friends build up our self-esteem, we let any low blow tear us down.
When we go into relationships with partners, we often look for someone who will sing our praises when we can’t sing them ourselves. This can be a dangerous game because how do we feel about ourselves when they stop singing?
We just can’t let others’ opinions of us be how we see ourselves. We have to create our own narrative and be our own cheerleaders.
This is why self-love is the most important love you can give yourself.
Literally, the only opinion of you that matters is your own. If someone else can see that light in you, yes, amazing!! But affirm self-love first. Sing your praises.
I know it’s easier said than done, but love that beautiful soul, body, and mind you see in the mirror. Your opinion of yourself is the only one that matters.
