The Get Well With Adele, November 2023
A monthly wellbeing roundup of all things supportive to one's journey to Self. November's newsletter includes tips for rest, a soup recipe, and journal prompts to enter the season. ✨
Do you have a favorite month? I do. It’s this one.
Not only is November my birthday month, but it is also the start of my favorite holiday season(s).
I personally love the slowdown, so the beginning of November through Thanksgiving always opens up the opportunity to settle into the change of pace.
It’s also a time to reflect on gratitude genuinely.
I want to think I am grateful every day, but there’s something about the pace of the fall into winter that fills my cup.
For my birthday, my partner and I whisked away to a log cabin in Michigan to have a weekend filled with solace and to release the energy of such an active summer.
We’ve all had a busy summer, it’s part of being cyclical. I hope you take intentional time to surrender to the stillness.
In honor of settling into November, this Get Well with Adele is full of ways to make this fall more restful. Including:
Journal prompts for manifesting a slow autumn
Soup recipe using autumnal ingredients
Tips for true rest
Energy releasing and mindset offer
Cheers to getting well together,
Adele
Use these journal prompts to reflect and release.
When we can express gratitude for the abundance of life and time, and when we can see in front of us what we wish to move away from, manifesting our dream reality becomes easy. Take intentional time to work through these questions.
Light a candle, pour some tea, breathe in, and release.
Carrot Ginger Soup Recipe
A fall season recipe using carrots and ginger. Add a little spice for some sinus-clearing action. 🥕🥣🍂
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
3 garlic cloves, smashed
1 pound carrots, roughly chopped
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 serrano pepper, seeded and sliced (optional for heat lovers)
3 cups vegetable broth
freshly ground black pepper
coconut milk for garnish (optional)
pepitas for garnish (optional)
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions, salt and pepper and cook until softened, stirring occasionally, about 8 minutes. Add the smashed garlic cloves, serrano pepper (if you’d like), and carrots to the pot and cook 8 minutes more, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the ginger and broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Let cool slightly and transfer to a blender or use an immersion blender to blend until smooth. If your soup is too thick, add a little more broth.
Serve with a drizzle of coconut milk and a couple of pepitas, if desired.
Tips for True Rest
Rest is so important, however, we live in a fast-paced society that seems to prioritize a “go, go, go” mentality. The hustle and grind is glorified so much so that those who do not abide by the effervescent need to always be doing something are deemed “lazy.” As a Generator in Human Design, nothing energizes me quite like prioritizing my rest. I cannot run on empty doing things society tells us we “should” do - work until burnout, be on alert, show up to every event. These things can be detrimental to our overall wellbeing and quality of life.
As human beings, we simply do not rest enough. Even if we get 8 hours of sleep (or whatever is required of us), we do not get enough rest. We go to lay down and scroll on our phones or we put the TV on and binge-watch shows, we put off rest as a way to punish ourselves for not making the most of every day.
Scheduled rest is not the same as true rest.
True rest requires nothing but our presence. It brings on a sense of peace and calmness, and shows us how to nurture ourselves.
Rest is our birthright and there is no better time to exercise it then when the weather calls us hibernate.
Here are some ways you can prioritize rest this season:
Take intentional time away from your phone. Lay down for a nap or bed time and set your phone in a different room. Give yourself permission to not check it immediately after you’ve gotten up.
Give yourself space to decompress. Spaciousness is necessary to decompress - clear time in your schedule to relax in your space; tidy up the place, make a homecooked meal, read a book, paint. Just give yourself permission to be peaceful.
Take intentional time away. People think they need to spend thousands of dollars to go overseas to a serene beach to rest, and while that’s never a bad time, you don’t have to be stretched thin on cash to take time away. Find a rental unit in your town that has things you like (hot tub, big windows, close to parks), or get a cozy cabin in the woods. Set the intention that you’re there to rest.
Clean up your place. Rest is often distracted by clutter. We might start to rest and then think about how untidy our room is and so leads into other self-sabotaging behaviors, often unknowingly. Make it a habit to put things away as often as you can, and then give yourself a scheduled day to clean and notice how much easier it is to find calmness in your space.
Exercise your “NO” muscle. Say no to events that don’t sound enjoyable to you or that would take up more energy than what you know you have. Don’t feel like you have to be involved in every outing, every decision, every task that others make - give yourself permission to not be helpful. You MUST show up for yourself in the same way you’ve been showing up for others.
The big holidays are coming up and this time of year tends to be busy and stressful for many. How will you prioritize rest?
Mindset Makeover
If “more rest” is what you want to call in for the season, or you’ve been noticing your energy just feels a bit “off,” or maybe you just want to manifest something into your life, you may find interest in my Mindset Makeovers.
What is a Mindset Makeover? I’m calling it a radical act of self-care because it’s taking intentional time to release stagnant energy and open yourself up to liberate your belief system & start to reprogram your reality and what’s possible for you. It is 60-minutes chock-full of a mix of mindset discussion, centering breaths, Reiki, and an oracle card pull.
You WILL leave with new and aligned energy.
