Realizing that today is January 3, 2024 is blowing my mind. It feels like two weeks ago I was in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, Michigan celebrating my birthday… but that was November 3rd and way more than two weeks ago.
What a year it was! So much has happened in my personal bubble as well as globally - some good, some devastatingly tragic. My heart has never been more full yet simultaneously filled with grief knowing that so many people all across the world are suffering from things beyond their control. My wish for 2024 is that I can support others way more this year in ways that feel doable to me whether it’s monetary or material donations or just creating more availability to support others seeking more personal and spiritual freedom in their lives.
With that said my plans for 2024 are pretty lofty.
I plan to launch more community-oriented workshops because I have always felt that the support of a community has been my key motivation to pursuing a life of joy and freedom. Knowing there are others in it with me and that I can lean on the shoulders of others for support has meant so much to me, especially as someone who grew up as an only child and carried the weight of the world on my shoulders. I want to remind my folks, especially women, that we need each other and that we don’t have to take on every single battle alone. It starts with creating communities where we feel supported, safe, and empowered.
I also have a lot of plans for my channels. I have underutilized social media for years, mostly because of my background working in digital marketing for over a decade. I tend to fall out of love with social, but I’ve realized that whenever I share what I’m doing, what interests me, and my journey, the outcome is so positive. People who have known me for years see the shift, people who are overcoming their own battles empathize with me, and strangers become friends who cheer each other on. Expect to see some shifts on Instagram and YouTube (and perhaps even your favorite Podcasting platforms) as I work to build community.
And I have plans for Settling Inn, too.
When I was in college, I told one of my professors that I had the desire to create an online magazine for women that went beyond just celebrity gossip and diet talk. I didn’t know how to put it then, but I wanted it to be a lifestyle magazine that was supportive of women’s careers, personal lives, and overall wellness because so much of what I was reading was really about how to eat like celebrities and please men. At the time I didn’t even realize what was possible and I hadn’t been through significant awakenings like those that occurred over this past year.
So Settling Inn is still going to be that dream I dreamt up in one of my communications classes, and I have the intention of delivering what I said I would when I built this platform. This platform is about finding yourself and coming back to your authentic you.
That means more content for PAID subscribers, more cyclical living, more de-mything what society is pushing as wellness truths, more self-reflections from me, and more recommendations in the form of podcasts, books, content, yoga, etc. that will be beneficial in your journeys.
I will be toggling between two platforms - Substack and Flodesk to make sure the right content goes where it needs to.
Finally, my last goal is to keep living.
I recapped the lessons I learned last year and all of them have made my life significantly more enjoyable and more free.
I can’t wait to have you along for the ride.
Be Well,
Adele
