There was once a point in time when I truly didn’t enjoy the autumn season. As a child and teen, I used to bask in the summer sun and lived for long-lasting beach sunsets in my hometown on the lake. Autumn meant crisp cold air, early sunsets, and of course the dreaded return to my studies at school. I usually overlooked the beauty of the changing leaves because I was so distracted by their rapid decline.
Summer is such a lively season. You glisten in the radiant sun. Citrus is the star ingredient in most summer dishes. Your energy is vibrant and there’s almost no reason to be indoors. The summer season is about adventure.
I always felt sad when it was time to trade my swimsuits in for sweaters. However, autumn brings its own sense of adventure even though it looks different.
Seeds planted in the spring are now ready to harvest and serve their purpose. Some animals begin to stock up on snacks and enter hibernation. Trees shed their leaves.
Abundance. Preparation. Letting go. How juicy does that sound?
Autumn signifies change and transition and calls on us to turn inwards. The sun enters Libra ⚖️ (represented by a pair of balanced scales) in Autumn, symbolizing balance and symmetry. Autumn asks us to reconnect with ourselves and take care of our homes and our well-being.
After giving so much energy in the summer, the coziness of autumn is much needed. Autumn is not an ending, just a place to rest for a while.
Now that I am an adult, I cannot live in a place that does not have all four seasons. I crave the wisdom of fall to remind me to reconnect with myself in the sacred spaces I’ve built throughout my home and in my relationships.
Let this fall be a moment of rest for you. Those juicy, exciting things you were talking about doing all year but didn’t have time to get to - do them now.
Invest your energy in the things that feel warm this season.

Intention Setting
Intention setting is powerful work. An intention is a goal, a purpose. Something you plan to achieve. When you set an intention and speak it out loud, you are becoming a conscious creator of your life.
Autumn is a perfect time to set intentions since things start to slow down. Your fall evening plans may look different than your summer evening plans. Perhaps you have more time indoors to settle in(n) and commit to vision planning. Taking a moment to write down your intentions is the first proactive step you can make in actually accomplishing them. Right now is the perfect opportunity to clear away mental and physical clutter and set goals for this next season.
